J-R Family Butchers is a modern family butcher shop built on tradition, passion, hard work and quality you can trust.
Purchased by Seth James-Reed and his family in September 2024, J-R Family Butchers proudly supplies the Sunraysia community with premium quality meats including free-range pork and chicken, alongside grass-fed beef and lamb. With a strong focus on quality and service, the business has quickly become known for its handcrafted products, traditional values and genuine care for customers and the wider community.
Founder and Director Seth James-Reed has earned recognition across the Australian meat industry for his craftsmanship and dedication to the trade. In 2024, Seth was crowned 3rd Best Butcher in Victoria and Best Young Butcher in Victoria at the Australian Food Super Butcher Wars. Prior to this achievement, he had already gained recognition for award-winning sausages and gourmet burgers, showcasing his passion for innovation and quality products.
More recently, Seth added another achievement to the business’ growing list of accolades, taking home a Bronze Medal at the Australian Charcuterie Excellence Awards for his signature shortcut maple bacon.
Beyond the retail shop, J-R Family Butchers proudly supplies a wide range of businesses and organisations throughout the region, including the local halal community, daycare centres, pubs, restaurants, cafes, bakeries and much more. The team is always looking to grow and build new partnerships, and welcomes enquiries from businesses looking for reliable, high-quality meat supply.
Backing Seth in business is a strong family team — his mentor and friend Alan Fisher, his beautiful wife-to-be Brittney, their two children Airlie and Crellin, along with Seth’s mum Tania and her partner Michael, who are all involved as business partners helping bring the vision to life.
